Scarves by Maryann Ariizumi
These scarves were created in response to my usual what if question. The weave structure is a complex twill that creates a very simple graphic pattern. I often weave scarves that I want to be slippery and slinky. I wanted these to have more body, so used cotton in combination with tencel and bamboo for the warp. The wefts were also an experiment. To make the colors more interesting, I used a fine silk of one hue and value, combined with a heavier thread of similar but not the same, hue and value.
