Huck Mats

Huck Placemats by Janet Stanley

Each meeting of the Seattle Weavers' Guild features a segment called "Hot Off the Loom". During this time members display and explain work they have recently done.
Janet's first floor-loom experience was at Madelyn van der Hoogt's The Weavers Studio on Whidbey Island with Suzie Lyles of the Eugene Textile Center (ETC) as Co-Teacher. She fell in love with the Baby Wolf Loom for its size, collapsibility, and general flexibility and promptly bought one with 8 shafts from Suzie. Wanting to dive right into a project that met her Beginner Weaver Status, she chose Suzie's Elegant Placemat pattern from the Class Binder and has enjoyed making MANY placemats and some runners of the three Huck options: Huck, Huck Box, and Huck Lace - all from one threading; just three different tie-ups. These were woven with 3/2 Astra Cotton #105 Paradise, 177 ends sett at 12 EPI on 4 shafts.
