Tips for Using the SWG Catalog on Library Thing
First, navigate to the SWG Catalog by clicking here. We recommend that you bookmark the SWG Catalog in your browser to save a couple of steps next time.
Our catalog now includes cover photos (in progress) and “tags,” which can be much more specific than the usual library subject headings.
You can sort the collection by author, title, and so on by clicking on a column heading (in bold blue type); clicking on the little arrow in the heading toggles it to sort Z-A.
There are 2 search boxes in the upper right corner; the upper one (Search site) searches everyone’s Library Thing catalog and the entire site, the lower search box (“Search this library”) searches only our collection. The photo below illustrates the search box for the SWG Library.
The comments column contains an accession number, copy number if more than one, and a letter code for the section - B for books, M for monographs, F for file, ST for stacks etc. Within that, items are on the shelf by the author’s name.
You can make lists of materials for a study group, workshop or special interest - search for “block weaves” or “rigid heddle” for example, and when you have the result, you can print it with your browser or save the list as a PDF. The list of styles A-E gives you a few ways to format your list. Style C is good for printing.
