Community Outreach
All year long Seattle Weavers' Guild participates in a variety of activities that promote handweaving. Our Outreach Team works to connect our guild with the broader community through in-school programs, speaking engagements, weaving demonstrations, exhibits, craft kits and public events.
Can we bring weaving to your classroom, group or event? For more information, contact us.
Past events have included the Folklife Festival, Sheep to Shawl at the Puyallup Fair, Vashon Island's Sheep Dog Trials, neighborhood art fairs, supporting the Southeast Seattle Senior Center's Weaving Studio, helping scout troops with their textile badges, special demonstrations for schools and other community groups, donating scarves to Seattle Children's Hospital, and supplying craft kits for teachers and other groups to use with their students.
SWG guild members volunteer time making craft kits for our community. We are especially pleased to be able to support educators by providing materials and instructions for a number of projects appropriate for classroom or take-home use. For 2024-25 we offer: weaving on a CD, and Kumihimo braiding
