Description:

A four shaft overshot pattern can be converted to double weave using 4 shafts, but using 8 shafts makes the threading easier. The threading can be repeated on shafts 5 through 8 in parallel as shown on the draft; shafts 1-4 for the top layer and 5-8 for the bottom layer. The treadling is paralleled as well with the left four tie-ups weaving the top layer and the right four tie-ups weaving the bottom layer.

All threads are the same weight even though they are presented as two different thicknesses in the draft. This is a double weave draft so the thicker threads represent the top layer and the thinner threads, the bottom layer.

Warp yarn:

Natural and Pink 16/2 unmercerized cotton

Weft yarn:

16/2 unmercerized cotton a single shuttle of one color or 2 shuttles of various different colors

Sett:

48 epi and ppi in a 12 dent reed threaded 4 threads per dent. Woven with 884 ends measuring 18.4 inches in the reed. No floating selvage threads needed.

Loom:

8 shaft Baby Wolf

Finishing:

Machine washed, line dried, hard pressed. Shrinkage about 10%

Note: You will probably have to click on double weave under "cloth" and perhaps the back view so that it will show up better.
