“Color in Weaving ”

Day 1: March 29, 9am - 4:30pm (Saturday)
Day 2: March 30, 9am - 4:30pm (Sunday)
Class Description:
You select the yarns for a project – they look so great together on the cones. Then you put them on the loom and well, things don’t look like you had envisioned. This 2-day class is an introduction to color theory for weavers. We will discuss color theory, working with different color combinations and how color value affects your weaving projects so that you can achieve color success in your projects.
This is not a round robin.
Skill Level:
Beginner through Advanced Weavers – students must be comfortable warping their looms independently.
Materials required:
2 or 4 shaft (or more!) loom. Table, floor loom or even rigid heddle! Students will receive instructions 4-6 weeks via email before class regarding selecting yarns, winding warps, etc.

Cost:
$75 Deposit, non-refundable and at time of registration. Estimated cost $140, based on 12 students enrolled, $105 based on maximum enrollment. The final cost will depend on the number of students enrolled. Final payment is due during the workshop.

Deb Essen lives, weaves and runs her business dje handwovens in the Bitterroot Valley, nestled in the Rocky Mountains of western Montana. In 2004, Deb achieved the Certificate of Excellence in Handweaving-Level 1 through the Handweaver’s Guild of America. In 2001, she was inducted to the Montana Circle of American Masters in Folk and Traditional Art. Her book, Easy Weaving With Supplemental Warps, was published originally by Interweave Press in 2016. In 2022, the book was re-released as an expanded revised edition, with more projects and weave structures, by Schiffer Publishing. She has recorded five weaving videos, available through Long Thread Media, ranging from supplemental warps to profile drafting and has written multiple feature articles for Handwoven and Little Looms magazines. Deb is passionate about teaching about the wonders of weaving and teaches at shops, guilds, regional and national conferences and festivals.
