Morning (11AM): “Woven Textiles – Art Into Industry”.
Margo Selby is an internationally renowned woven textile designer. Her design philosophy is focused on pushing the boundaries of weaving to create contemporary stylish fabrics for a range of textile applications. Alongside her commercial textile design business Margo also creates distinctive handwoven artworks, which unite a modernist aesthetic with traditional weaving techniques. In her presentation Margo will talk about her career in woven textiles, how the brand has evolved and the crossovers between her work as an artist, craftsperson and designer.
Margo Selby is a British artist and designer of woven textiles. She studied at Chelsea College and the RCA. Since then, she has built a business, and established an expansive approach to working in textiles – across art, design and industry, with partners including Osborne & Little, John Lewis and Habitat. Margo’s practice as a weaver is at the heart of all of the studio projects. Her successful career in textiles has been recognised in 2021 with the award of the Turner Medal for Britain’s Greatest Colourist.
