Morning Program: Alex Friedman - Along the Warp; my Tapestry Journey

This program will be a review of how I began and where the threads have taken me.

About Alex:

Website: https://www.alexfriedmantapestry.com

Art has always been part of Alex's life. A native San Franciscan, her first job was in an architectural office in Cambridge, MA but an evening class in weaving at the YMCA set her on a new trajectory. In NYC, she worked in a studio which had a commission to weave tapestries for a fleet of new Pan Am jumbo jets. Each jet had 6 tapestries and some were shaped to fit the fuselage. From that point on she has been on her own path, weaving commissions, exhibiting internationally, developing her own body of award winning art. Tapestry has taken Alex in many directions and introduced her to weavers all around the world. She have served as the Director of the American Tapestry Alliance and currently, is on the Executive Board of the Textile Arts Council at the DeYoung Museum, in San Francisco, CA. Alex maintains a studio in the ICB in Sausalito and welcomes visitors by appointment.
