About Barbara:

Website: https://www.barbarajwalker.com

Barbara J. Walker's last art class was in eighth grade. She thought she was going to be a national park ranger as a career, and she was for three summers - one in Rocky Mountain National Park and two in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. But the creative gene from her grandmother took hold instead.

Now Barbara is passionate about ply-splitting, weaving, fiber interlacements of all sorts, mixed media, and collaborative work. She has exhibited her award-winning pieces internationally, holds HGA's Master Certificate of Excellence in Handweaving, and has conducted ply-splitting and weaving workshops in the US, United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan. She is an enthusiastic educator and has had numerous articles published in major fiber publications. She published Supplementary Warp Patterning: Turned Drafts, Embellishments & Motifs in 2016 and Ply-Splitting from Drawdowns: Interpreting Weave Structures in Ply-Split Braiding in 2012.
